The Quantitative Fluorescence Technique (QFT-2)
is a patented technique used for a more
accurate determination of the amount of drill cuttings by measuring fluorescence, which uses a sensitive portable fluorometer to give quantitative values for the oil content in the cuttings. As long as representative samples can be obtained, either while drilling or from cores, QFT is a more direct measurement of the oil content than can be obtained from wireline logs.
